Take a moment to look at the picture above. What catches your eye? The statue of a tired lion resting peacefully, perhaps. What would the lion see in the reflection? The striking image of a pig? or after a closer look, will discover itself in the reflection.
Reflection requires a medium. The nature of the reflection can vary depending on the smoothness, texture, curvature, and other medium characteristics. Self-reflection is based on how we responded to various incidents and each incident can reflect a different facet of ourselves. Self-reflection requires courage and honesty. Challenging times make us reflect on our underlying issues and find mindful solutions. This can be painful at times as it also shows our unhealthy side and vulnerability. But the discomfort is worth it because after the initial shock, it promotes healing, and personal transformation allowing our true selves to emerge.
