Vani is in her late 40’s, living with her two college-going daughters and her husband, who retired recently. Though Vani has done her beautician course, she was not allowed to take up any regular job as her husband insisted. Yet, Vani managed to make some income, through her beautician and tailoring skills, at a small level. She was passionate about makeup and hairstyling.
Now the financial situation at home demanded her to take up a regular job to meet the family expenses.
With the help of her friend, she got an offer from a nearby beauty parlor for the role of ‘Beautician Assistant’. She happened to face a lot of challenges working along with her team of young beauticians as they bullied and humiliated her for her looks and attire. Vani decided to stay cool with people, irrespective of the way they treated her. This quality kept her at peace.
Her primary job included face massage, in which she was focused and dedicated. She was genuinely kind and pleasant to customers and even took the extra effort to explain to them about their skin type and what products would best work for them for continuous maintenance. She beautifully demonstrated the skin type by simple tissue paper & talcum powder testing and gained the trust of her customers. Customer satisfaction ultimately grew with time, which brought in more business. This also increased the cross sales of expensive beauty products for the parlor.
The owner of the parlor recognized the efficiency of Vani and promoted her as ‘Mentor-Beautician’ within a year, with an excellent salary hike. Her husband’s annual salary is now equal to her 4 months’ salary.
Those young beauticians who made fun of her are now being trained and are seeking expert opinion from her. Vani’s friendly attitude towards them tuned up their overall behavior in handling humankind.
Thus, it is evident that the power of passion lifted not only the quality of living for Vani and her family, but also that of those she is surrounded with.
