Time, A word we are so familiar with, yet invariably believe we have so little of. In today’s fast paced and technology crazy world we are more interested in maintaining a “busy” status than admit to having free time. So much so that we dread to sit idle and watch outside the window of a train or wait at the doctor’s place and instead busy ourselves by fiddling with our mobiles. We believe that showing people that we are not “busy” means showing our vulnerable “I have nothing to do” facet of ourselves.
Today everyone is in the “I am busy” zone, which in turn is the best excuse for NOT
Just chatting with friends
Meeting relatives
Returning calls
We seem to be so cocooned in our day-to-day routine life with its myriad challenges that life itself seems to be slipping through our fingers like loose sand. Some people believe it’s a style statement and others are trying hard to fill in their day with activities to show the world that they indeed are “busy.”
Taking time off for oneself, “ME time” or “I need space” is now the favourite filler, so that “WE time” can be forgotten. We are staying in touch without actually connecting, as people are now just another contact on our long list.
Nature has remedies for almost everything provided we see, hear, and immerse ourselves in it. When we walk, we listen to podcasts; when we run we listen to music and when we see a beautiful sight we take a selfie. We are so “busy” with filling every moment that the essence of the moment is lost.
While keeping ourselves mentally and physically active is important, human touch can never be replaced with gifts, photos, and WhatsApp messages. A touch in time can heal for a lifetime.
