Navaratri is a nine day festival celebrated all over India in various places. It has been a historic tradition within Tamil Nadu, with Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Durga goddesses as the focus
Different themes are planned for Golu (the highlight of the festival), to keep the creativity and excitement at its peak. With a representation of epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata, the themes have immense scope for innovation and creativity.
Here is an inspiring incident that happened in 2019, when we planned a theme on Joy of Giving for the neighborhood children as a token of appreciation for showcasing their talents. This had a huge impact on them. The talent show for the neighborhood children is focused on them having fun while they showcase their talents like singing, dancing and coloring, accompanied with a delicious meal as per their choice.
The idea behind the theme Joy of Giving was to encourage the children to provide moral support to each other. It might be as simple as, to help a peer who isn’t comfortable to show/try any new activity by motivating and making them feel secure and loved, or as big as to lend their favorite toy/cycle/skateboard to their peers to play for some time.
This enabled the children to develop compassion, and exhibit the same towards each other
